Simple Gift Idea: Inspiring Artwork

This weekend my sister and her husband threw a celebration to welcome three children into their family. They already were part of the family, but the official legality of the adoption rights was well worth a big party! Since the party was out of state, we weren’t sure if we were able to attend until the last minute… and thus I had very little time to create or buy a thoughtful gift.

I decided to give the kids The Jesus Storybook Bible by Sally Lloyd-Jones. Every person who has had an opportunity to encounter this precious children’s Bible is amazed. The retellings are so touching, my husband and I often have tears in our eyes as we read to our sons. The love of God and His eternal plan to rescue us is powerfully displayed. Even though my new nieces and nephews are preteens, I wanted them to read this book and hear the testimonies of men and women who overcame trials to be used by God in miraculous ways. Any Bible would show that, but this Bible is poignant yet simple. I believe it can be enjoyed at any age. It is my hope that as they read these pages, their faith will grow to know that God will turn their trials for good.

In addition to the book, I created a simple print to frame for each child. At several points in the book, the author says that Jesus loves us with a “never stopping, never giving up, unbreaking, always and forever love.” What a powerful description! I thought it would be nice to have the quote framed so each child had that to remember. I used the “PicLab HD” app to create this print. First I took a picture of a white background, and then I layered text over it. I then uploaded it to the nearest Walgreens, and picked up the photos on the way to the party.  It took very little time, but I hope it will be a meaningful gift. By getting the app and creating your own, you can adapt the print to fit the decor or theme for your recipient. PicLab also has various artistic elements you can add to your artwork. I hope I have inspired you to pass on this wonderful quote—or others you have in mind—to bless friends and family!
